If your organization uses SSO, anyone who isn't on your SSO provider can't log in to Ethena the usual way. That includes board members, contractors, advisors, and volunteers. You can still get them through their training and track completion using a combination of two settings: learners without email addresses and Kiosk mode (part of Ethena's Kiosk & Classroom Mode feature).

Use this approach when:
- Your organization uses SSO for learner authentication
- You have users who need to complete training but don't have an email address on your SSO domain
- You want completion records to live in Ethena alongside everyone else's
Common cases: board members, external advisors, contractors, and volunteer trainers.
How it works at a glance
- An admin enables two settings: learners without email addresses, and Kiosk mode.
- The admin adds the non-SSO user to the team list as a learner without an email address.
- The admin generates a Kiosk link and shares it directly with the learner.
- The learner opens the link, types their name to find their profile, and starts training. No login required.
- Completion records appear on the learner's profile in your admin dashboard, just like any other learner.
Because there's no email on file, these learners won't receive assignment notifications or reminder emails. You'll communicate with them directly outside Ethena.
Step 1: Enable the two settings
Go to Settings in your admin hub and open Company Information. Turn on:
- Enable learners without email addresses
- Enable Kiosk mode
Step 2: Add the learner
From the Team list, click Add team member and create a learner without an email address. Fill in their name and use a department or location field to make them easy to identify later. For example, set Department to "Board" so all board members group together.
Then assign them training, or let them auto-enroll based on your existing rules.
Step 3: Generate a Kiosk link
Open the assignment that contains the learner. In the top right of the assignment, click Kiosk/Classroom then Kiosk training link and copy the link.
The link is valid for 90 days. If you need it to last longer, re-enable the link to reset the expiration window.
Step 4: Share the link
Send the link directly to the learner through whatever channel works for them: personal email, text, internal portal. When they open the link, they'll:
- Land on a screen prompting them to type their name.
- Find their name in the dropdown and select it.
- Start their training.
Tracking completion
Completions register on the learner's Ethena profile automatically. You'll see them in your admin dashboard alongside completions from your SSO-authenticated learners. No extra step.
FAQ
Will these learners get email notifications or reminders?
No. Learners without email addresses don't receive any Ethena emails. You'll need to contact them directly to share the Kiosk link, send reminders, or share their certificate.
Can I download a completion certificate for them?
Yes. From the team list, click into the learner's profile, find the completed assignment, and download the certificate from there. See Certificates of Completion.
How do I add a lot of non-SSO users at once?
You can add learners without email addresses in bulk via CSV upload from the team list. See Adding new admin users and the bulk upload flow on the team list page.
What if the learner can't find their name in the dropdown?
Confirm they're typing their full name as it was entered in Ethena. The dropdown matches as they type. If they still can't find it, check that they were assigned to the same training the Kiosk link was generated from.
Does this require Premium?
Kiosk mode is available on relevant Ethena subscriptions. If you don't see the setting in your admin hub, reach out to your CSM or support@goethena.com to confirm availability.
