When setting up a training campaign in Ethena, you'll have the opportunity to set a deadline length for a training campaign. See below for an overview of training deadlines and some frequently asked questions.

How do deadlines work?
When setting a deadline for your Ethena training campaign, you'll select the number of days that you'd like to give learners to complete the training. When you do so, you'll be able to see what date your deadline will fall on for learners who are assigned the training on launch day.
Once you set the Training Deadline, you may also be prompted to input a New Learner deadline.
Please note that deadlines are based on calendar days and not business days. Ethena will avoid setting a deadline to a weekend day and will instead choose the closest weekday.
Understanding the Training Deadline vs. New Learner Deadline
For more flexibility, you can set a separate deadline for learners who join your team after training is released.
- The Training Deadline will go to any existing Ethena users who are sent training. This could be as part of a new training campaign, a recurring instance of an annual training campaign, or supplemental training sent due to a role or location change. Regardless of the reason the training is delivered, if the user already existed in Ethena, they'll get this deadline.
- The New Learner Deadline will go to any new Ethena users who are auto-enrolled in a campaign upon being added into the system (e.g. new hires added in via CSV or HRIS integration).
Editing a training campaign deadline
Once a campaign is scheduled, you can still edit the deadline any time before or after the initial training date. On the campaign you would like to change, just click the blue link next to "Deadline" or click the edit button on the right hand side.
Updating the deadline after training is sent out
Once training is assigned to your team, it is still possible to change the deadline. If you make a change, you will be prompted to choose whether or not you'd like to update the training deadline retroactively.
- If you select No, keep current deadline, the original deadline will remain for all learners who have already received training. The new deadline length will only be set for newly enrolled learners.
- If you select Yes, update retroactively, the deadline will be reset for all current incomplete learners and all upcoming learners. If you are shortening the deadline, this could result in team members moving from "Within Deadline" to "Incomplete" (past due) status.
Updating the deadline for a small cohort of employees
If a certain employee, or group of employees, should have their deadline shortened or extended for any reason, you can utilize this workaround:
- Unenroll the employees whose deadlines need to be updated. Edit the "Manage Learners" setting and add them to the "Excluded" list manually or via CSV.
- Change the deadline. Change the "Training Deadline" to the correct number of days from the initial enrollment date that you'd like to give them. Choose "No, keep current deadline" for the update retroactively option (see above screenshot).
- Save your changes.
- Then, go back to the "Manage Learners" section and remove them from the "Excluded" list.
- Save your changes. They'll be enrolled with the new, adjusted deadline.
- Finally, go back into the campaign editor once more and change your deadline back to whatever you'd like it to be going forward. Once again, choose "No, keep current deadline" for the update retroactively option.
