Set yourself up for success uploading and assigning your external trainings to Ethena! We have a few tips and things to remember to help ensure you get the most out of your custom courses:
-
Confirm the File Type to upload.
Ethena accepts MP4s, PDFs, zipped SCORM, AICC, cmi5, xAPI and LTI. See info on file types here.
You can also choose a video link If you already have videos uploaded to Youtube or Vimeo.
-
Add a check on learning
This means a question at the end of a module to check your learners progress. This will need to be answered correctly in order to move on in the training! -
Preview the training.
Once your file is successfully uploaded, preview the training from the perspective of a learner. We highly recommend carefully looking through the training for any spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, or missing slides before assigning the training out to learners.
-
Leverage reporting.
You will be able to access completion reporting in Ethena for all external courses in the dashboard. At this time, you will not be able to see positivity ratings.
If you are using a SCORM File:
-
Zip it up.
Trainings must be uploaded into Ethena as a .zip file.
-
Define “End Of Training”
It’s important for every training file to have a clearly defined “end of training.” This is likely the last slide of the training. Most training files come equipped with this, but files that lack it will not be able to record training completion for reporting purposes.
-
Add the “Complete” Button.
"If possible, it's a best practice to include an "exit" or "complete" button on the last slide of an external training files. The job of this button is to transfer control from the iframe (your training file) back to Ethena. In the absence of this button, Ethena has a 'Return to Learning Center' button that will serve a similar purpose.
For advice on converting another file type (such as powerpoint) to SCORM or similar, blogs such as LMS Chef have advice for software tools that can help.
Once your file is ready you can move onto Adding a Custom Course.
